Although we don’t have too much information about Kendrick Lamar’s incoming album, the West Coast revivalist has been popping up now and again, much to our delight. His Top Dawg Entertainment stable dropped a collaboration with local label Zanerobe, he performed at the Bacardi Triangle soiree over Halloween, he guested on Flying Lotus’ sprawling ‘Never Catch Me’ and now he’s dropped a video for his single ‘i’.

The track has certainly been polarising among rap fans, but it’s a refreshing route for Lamar, who’s quickly solidifying himself as one of this generation’s finest emcees. With it’s infectious instrumentation and celebratory nature, ‘i’ sees Lamar dancing among a crowd before wildly rapping from the backseat of his whip.

Speaking on the track, Lamar commented:

I wrote a record for the homies that’s in the penitentiary right now, and I also wrote a record for these kids that come up to my show with these slashes on their wrists saying they don’t want to live no more.
