An epic Western crime drama directed by Martin Scorsese, with a screenplay penned alongside Eric Roth (Dune, Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Killers of the Flower Moon has been in the works for a few years now, originally slated for release in 2022.
Based on David Grann’s book of the same name, the movie is set during the Reign of Terror – a series of real-life murders of members of the North American Indigenous Osage tribe in Oklahoma from 1921 to 1925 after oil was discovered on their land – and the ensuing investigation by a newly-formed FBI.

Killers of the Flower Moon follows affluent ranch owner William Hale (played by Robert De Niro), alongside his nephew Ernest Burkhart (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Ernest’s wife Mollie (played by Lily Gladstone), as they’re caught up in the growing unease around them. Alongside Gladstone, it stars a whole host of other Indigenous actors.

While the trailer doesn’t give too much away, it promises plenty of tense thriller action. In an interview earlier this year, original author Grann praised the production, describing: “I was really struck by the level of care, both in developing the story and the level of research.”
If that doesn’t stir enough excitement in you, elsewhere Leonardo DiCaprio has spoken on the release describing: “It’s a project I am proud of & I cannot wait to share it with you all.”
Killers of the Flower Moon is due out in cinemas on 6 October before heading to Apple TV+.
