Titled Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the documentary will take a look inside Nirvana’s skyrocketing success, as well as more personal insights into the troubled vocalist. Filmmaker Brett Morgan had this to say of the task:
“I started work on this project eight years ago. Like most people, when I started, I figured there would be limited amounts of fresh material to unearth. However, once I stepped into Kurt’s archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media. If you think about Kurt, he’s a contradiction. He could be sincere and sentimental, and also ironic and sarcastic. He was sweet and sour. He was incredibly funny too, and the film has to reflect his spirit.”
Below is one of the previously unseen photos of Cobain uncovered by the documentary, while it also promises “dozens of Nirvana songs and performances as well as previously unheard Cobain originals.”
We can’t wait.
