Just another day in politics…

If you’ve been following the election, then you’re already aware of the jabs being thrown between Prime Minister hopefuls Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese. Now, a mere days before the country votes on who’ll lead the country, these jabs have been reimagined in a literal sense, with a new game allowing players to box each other as their preferred candidate.

Titled PM Fighter, the online minigame situates users within a boxing ring, where they can throw keyboard combinations at their opponent until either Scott “Hands of God” Morrison or Anthony “Labor Pains” Albanese is KO’d. PM Fight takes cues from 90’s 8-bit arcades, with health bars above each boxer and glitchy, crowd-cheering sound effects.

Featuring a cameo of the PM’s infamous 60 Minutes ukulele and a gamified version of Waltzing Matilda, the game is about as patriotic as anything Morrison has done during his campaign. Rivalry, the esports company behind the game, said PM Fighter takes the feelings of election season into the virtual world.

“An election campaign can feel a bit like a boxing match…That’s why we decided to make PM Fighter and give Aussies an entertaining way to get behind their favourite politician…perhaps we’ll see an early indicator of the election outcome,” the gamemakers said.

Masterminding a game in which you can KO the most punchable head in Australian politics, PM Fighter feels like Flappy Bird with more democratic oomph. You can play the game here, and remember to throw one for climate policy and another for that vacation to Hawaii.
