Whoever is running the social media accounts for the Queensland Police definitely deserves a promotion – their official Facebook page delivered a visual, meme-worthy zinger on Canadian rock crew Nickleback this afternoon.

Ripping on Nickleback is like taking candy from a baby, but it’s pretty great when cops engage in a little online banter – proving that they aren’t all stern assholes who will fine you for J-walking.

They posted an illustration of Nickleback with a caption reading “Police are on the lookout for these men who are believed to be impersonating musicians around Boondall this evening. Avoid the area. It may be hazardous to your hearing and street cred.”

So far, their efforts have earned them 20,000 likes – and it looks like the Queensland Police are taking more steps to becoming #relevant and #engaging while earning back the trust of the people:
