The man co-founded the New York clique in 2007, and has since been instrumental in their success. A behind-the-scenes figure who directed many of their power moves, he also featured prominently in videos and tracks from ASAP Rocky and ASAP Ferg – including his classic intro/outro on ‘Let It Go’.
The details are currently thin, but one Mob member has alluded to substances including codeine contributing to his death. Rappers have now taken to social media to express their grief.
“You changed my life, you changed the world. R.I.P YAMZ there can never be another one after you,” Ferg wrote. “Rest in peace Yams. A$AP is family,” Drake said via Facebook.
