Calvin Harris has already proven that he can write a house hit with his hands tied behind his back. His last album 18 Months had about 72369 club singles/festival anthems on it, which is perhaps why he’s taken a sharp turn away from the mainstream on ‘Slow Acid’. It’s got plenty of groove and underground grit, let’s see how the fans react to this joint.

ONE DAY – LEAVE YOUR WINDOWS OPEN

‘Leave Your Windows Open’ actually appeared on One Day’s phenomonal album Mainline back in August, but this week the hip-hop supergroup announced that this will be their next single from the full-length. With dreamy production and Joyride’s rich crooning dominating the track, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a music video.

THE WEEKND – OFTEN (REMIX) FT. SCHOOLBOY Q, RICK ROSS

The Weeknd’s smooth-as-butter vocals allow him to get away with some seriously sexually explicit lyrics – and ‘Often’ is another track sliding down the sultry R&B lane. He gets some assistance from ScHoolBoy Q, who thankfully tones down his brash bark for the track, while Rozay’s additions are also welcome. Play this one with your significant other by candlelight.

AVIVAA – CRYSTALEYES (KANYON REMIX)

Sydney talent combines as local stud Kanyon remixes his neighbouring duo AViVAA in ‘Crystaleyes’. Ultra-chill electronica is the name of the game, with some whirlwind percussion and nicely warped vocals thrown into the mix. Three cheers for hometown pride! Aw yes, Sydney is killing it.

RICH GANG – TAKE KARE FT. LIL WAYNE & YOUNG THUG

Young Thug is 2014’s standout breakthrough rapper, and so it’s no surprise that he’s teamed up with his most obvious influence in Lil Wayne for Rich Gang’s ‘Take Kare’. Both rappers offer their erratic, drugged-out delivery over the track’s ominous keys. Rich Gang’s album is set for release next month, and it looks like this will be an exciting blend of old and young talent.
