A surprising listen.

The Weeknd might be known for his irresistibly dark brand of R&B, but he’s surprised us all in the best way possible with ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.

The Weeknd recently joined Drake & Trent Reznor (killer team) at an Apple showcase to perform the new track, and thankfully a studio recording has now been uploaded online for our listening pleasure.

This is smooth pop music at it’s best, and while some might mourn The Weeknd’s transition to a more upbeat and radio-friendly form, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ doesn’t feel forced and still showcases his vocals in stellar fashion.

If you’re wondering why The Weeknd sounds so slick on this particular track, it might have something to do with the contributions from producer Max Martin – whose portfolio includes Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera.

Martin is also the man behind some of the greatest songs of all time – Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It that Way’ and Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time.’

With the help of Martin, we won’t be surprised if The Weeknd’s next album makes him a household name. Listen to ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ below and groove out:
