The man doesn’t miss…

Deep into his seventh year playing with the Utah Jazz, Aussie NBA veteran Joe Inges is making huge waves for his wicked three-pointer stats, going so far as surpassing a Utah Jazz record. It’s all popping off for the 33-year-old, who’s shooting at 50 per cent from three-pointers. To put it in more understandable terms, he’s sunk 105 out of 210 three pointers in a total of 38 games, which ranks him as second overall in the NBA.

And it seems like he’s only getting better, with 18 of his last 22 three-pointers going in, which is the best three-point percentage through a three-game stretch in NBA history (according to statistician Tyson Ewing).

Seems like this has come out of nowhere, but according to Ingles, this has been a long time in the making, saying to reporters this week “When I first came into the NBA, I shot it from down around my ankles. I pretty quickly realised that a 6’8 athletic guy was gonna block that into Row zed. I told you guys in training camp my shot felt good. You guys probably didn’t believe me because I bricked a few early.

“Obviously losing a little bit of that hesitation. Not that I’m not trying to get guys involved anymore, but shooting it when I’ve got an opportunity to shoot it, and guys being supportive of that … You probably just jinxed the hell out of me.”

But it doesn’t seem jinxes will be able to stop Ingles’ reign, which has helped him to surpass Utah Jazz great John Stockton as Utah’s all-time leader in three-pointers in his game against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. The Aussie was able to cop a solid 17 points coming off the bench in the game, along with seven rebounds and a solid assist. Ultimately, Utah came out on top, Ingles and his team doubling down on their offence to win 120 – 95.

Pretty blood proud of the homegrown superstar. Watch him make history with his unmissable three-pointers below.
