We all remember McGregor vs Mayweather. Even though it took place two years ago, it feels just like yesterday. It was definitely one of the biggest mainstream boxing matches of the past decade, with the then golden boy of the UFC taking on the undefeated champ himself. For a moment there we thought maybe, MAYBE Conor would have just a slight chance of beating Floyd. But then, we were all brought back down to reality as Floyd played with him in typical Mayweather fashion, stringing McGregor along for several rounds before absolutely lighting him up in the pointy end of the fight.
Even though McGregor acknowledged that Mayweather beat him fair and square, he’s never fully let go of the contest, claiming he would’ve ended up being ahead on the scorecards if he had been allowed to continue. Regardless of whether or not that’s true, we gotta commend Conors unshakeable belief in himself, something fans expected to be diminished after his UFC loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
But one person who definitely will be returning to the boxing ring is Mike Tyson, the baddest man on the planet. Flexing his podcast muscles, Tyson recently heaped praise onto McGregor for taking on Floyd, and well, that’s what’s reignited Conor’s desire for a rematch, responding on Twitter “Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd.
I promise my life on it”.
Definitely big words, but knowing McGregor, he totally means it when he goes so far as promising his life on it.

It is great to see you back Iron Mike ❤️ https://t.co/NDrVnEaukm— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 15, 2020
We definitely expect a rematch of some sort to eventually take place, with Floyd teasing a UFC debut against Conor a little while back. Whether it takes place in the boxing ring or the octagon, that remains to be seen. But boy, we can’t wait for that day to come. Check out the highlights from their first fight to take a little trip down memory lane…
