The 7th annual “Tournament of Turns” will be hitting Thredbo August 25th.

When I first saw the email from Transfer Mag re: Banked Slalom returning, I thought “Why on Earth would Transfer be emailing about oven-cooked freshwater fish.” Then I re-read the email and (though I was massively disappointed at the loss of some sort of salmon bake-off) I was stoked to see that the open-to-anyone snowboarding event was back.

What is banked slalom, you ask? It’s a run that features a “hair-raisingly long course of winding banked berms, rollers, through a leg-burning gully and then slingshots them out of the bottom of the course where they are awarded a time.” Whether you’re a competitive cowboy or a relaxed wrangler, it’s simply fun to hit the course. That said, past winners include Terje Haakonsen, Austen Sweetin, Nate Johnstone, Scotty James, Mathieu Crepel and Torah Bright, so you’ll be in pretty fine company if you make the podium.

The comp is broken up into divisions (opens, masters, groms, etc.) and you can enter here. Equally as important, however, is the pre-event party at ESS in Jindy the night before and the after party/awards ceremony straight after the event at Merritts. Head here for all the party/event deets and we’ll see you there!

In other Transfer news they just dropped a Winter Mission with former pro surfer Josh Kerr and his 14-year-old daughter Sierra. Dig in:
