Better have a good reason…

Celtics Legend Paul Pierce is no stranger to making waves on the internet, first saying that he was better than Miami Heat legend Dwayne Wayde (which he got absolutely killed for online), and now making an insane claim about LeBron James that’s totally ridiculous, even for him.

Speaking to ESPN, Pierce went so far as saying that Lebron doesn’t deserve to be part of any top-five lists or conversations regarding the greatest NBA players of all time, a take that’s definitely getting him heat (no pun intended) online.

“Bill Russell built up the organization in Boston. He should get way more credit than we give him, and a lot of times he gets left out of the conversation,” Pierce said. “So in saying that, Kareem, Magic , Jordan, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Bird. These guys are all-time top 10 players who either helped build up their organization or continued the tradition.”

Pierce asserts that Lebron hasn’t done the same, stating “He went and put together a team in Miami, and in some ways, he came back to Cleveland to put that team together, and then he went to the Lakers, where a tradition has already been made,” Pierce said. “And we don’t know, you know, that’s still to be continued. So in saying that, that’s my argument.”

As if he wasn’t done triggering every NBA fan on the internet, Pierce went on to list his top five “You wanna hear my top five? You want to hear it again? Jordan, Kareem, Russell. And you know who the fourth one is? Magic. Now you know who’s in my top five? Kobe Bryant,” Pierce said. “That’s my top five. Argue with it. Argue with it.”

No doubt Pierce is an absolute legend in his own right, but this is still a crazy stupid take. Lebron built the Heat up to help them win three NBA championships, then went back to the Cavs to help them win their first championship in 2016, ending their 52-year professional sports title drought. And now he’s doing the same with the Lakers, helping elevate them to the glory they once held.

If all of the above isn’t building up, then what is? It’s definitely an insane take. Safe to say we’re keen to see more reactions to this online…
