A new biopic depicting the early years and meteoric rise of Lebron James has been announced by Peacock this morning, with a release date expected for early next year. Titled, Shooting Stars, the film is based on the 2009 book of the same name – co-written by James – and will depict the basketballer’s high school origin story on the road to his first national championship title.
Unlike previous sports documentaries, the biopic will be scripted, and is currently casting an actor to depict the Lakers superstar and his high school teammates. The film was first announced, and then dropped, in 2018, but has since gained traction following a slew of film appearances by James. While an official premiere date has yet to be announced, it’s thought that Shooting Stars will debut as part of Peacock’s first-ever original title roster for 2023.
