Ever googled Jackalope? Nope? Well we’ll save you the trouble. A jackalope is a mythical beast that’s part antelope, part bunny rabbit. Why is that the name of a skate event? Maybe because something as good as Jackalope Block Party feels almost mythical, or maybe it’s just the kind of word that makes people think WTF does that mean? Either way… Jackalope kicks off tonight.
The event is making its debut outside of North America right here in Newcastle, taking over Sout Newy Skate Park for two huge days of skating, art and music. Thousands are expected as the space transforms into a hub of competitions, demos, and workshops, with afterparties scattered across the city.
Skaters of all ages can compete across three categories, with more than AU$10,000 up for grabs and one standout earning the Golden Ticket, an all expenses paid trip to Jackalope Virginia Beach 2026. International names Bob Burnquist, Raph Detienne and Beaver Flemming are in town, with Tommo and Brass helming the commentary team.
Plus there’ll be parties across Newcastle each night, from the Fireball kickoff at Las O’Gowrie (tonight) to the Jaritos and Capital event at Young Street Hotel (tomorrow night), and a Fellr party at the Prince of Wales (Saturday night) to close things out.
Go follow Jackalope here for all the details as they come through!
