What do you call a skater who isn’t able to skate?

It’s kind of like a fish without water or an influencer without a filter – whatever metaphoric path you want to waddle down, that’s how we’re feeling when we look back at Rowan Zorilla and Vans’ campaign video for the Z3. At the time of shooting, the Californian skater let his Vans teammates do the skating for him while he stretched out over a couch. For a guy who demonstrates such a raw love of the sport, that must’ve hurt.

Anyway, back to the Z3…

The shoe takes the best bits from Rowan’s previous pro models and pushes them further, with a slimmer, more durable upper and an upgraded cupsole construction. Underfoot, Vans’ ImpactWaffle outsole and full-length midsole add cushioning and protection for heavier landings, while SickStick rubber keeps the boardfeel and grip intact. Duracap reinforcements beef up the high-wear areas, with padded quarters adding a little more support and lockdown without turning it into a bulky skate shoe.
