The list of Finnish-American skater Lizzie Armanto’s accomplishments is straight-up exhausting: the first woman to do a 360 loop, the first female cover of Transworld, World Cup of Skateboarding golds, X-Games gold, thousands of fans, a true trailblazer for female skaters. Naturally, she’s the ideal candidate for a signature shoe, given how many skaters she inspires on a daily basis. And now, we have ‘The Lizzie’.
Hands-on at every point of the creation process, Lizzie’s feet were moulded using a 3D scanner, with performance being the top priority. Incorporating Vans’ EcoCush and Duracap technology, the shoe is made to be skated in, with the creamy white tones only leaving room for Lizzie’s initials on the tongue and her full name on the heel.
“I really enjoyed the process of creating a shoe from the ground up,” Lizzie said. “I felt compelled to make a shoe that is simple, functional, feels good on your feet and has a bit of soul, and feel proud of what we were able to accomplish.”
The shoe was also engineered to have a minimal carbon footprint, following the strict requirements of Vans’ VR3 Checkerboard Globe designation. “I feel very connected to nature, and I’m stoked that my shoe could bring me even closer to it. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to include sustainable materials and practices as much as possible throughout the entire process. It means a lot to me that Vans’ design team went the extra mile to make this happen,” Lizzie added.
The Lizzie and Vans x Lizzie Armanto Collection will be in April, 2022 at Vans Skateboarding retailers and at Vans.com.au To learn more, visit Vans.com.au/skateboarding.
