Frank Underwood continued his ascent to power on season two of House of Cards, and now Netflix has announced when viewers can again watch the most powerful man in America exert his unique brand of influence.
Netflix announced that House of Cards will return for its third season on Feb. 27, 2015.
The third season will premiere just about a year after season two did on Feb. 14 earlier this year, but Kevin Spacey has kept busy in the interim by… basically staying in character. He played a role in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that resembled Underwood, minus the Southern drawl.
“House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon began writing the third season last February, and has been shooting in Baltimore for the past few months despite delayed production in Maryland due to tax credit bills.
Nic Pizzolatto’s drama series ‘True Detective’ is set to begin production of its second season this fall in California. The eight-episode season will focus on three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. The cast includes Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly.
Season 2 will star Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.” Vince Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.” Kelly Reilly will play Frank’s wife, Jordan, “a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.”
Rachel McAdams will be Ani Bezzerides, “a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.” Taylor Kitsch’s character will be Paul Woodrugh, “a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.”
The first two episodes will be directed by Justin Lin.
It was reported last week with a Teaser that the movie is finally on its way.
The film brings back the entire original cast (including, but not limited to, Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven) in a story that picks up a little bit after the series left off. Ari Gold (Piven) is running his own studio now and his first big bet is on Vincent Chase (Grenier). Chase wants to not only star in, but direct his own movie.
Good to see some new faces too like the gorgeous Emily Ratajkowski, Fargo’s Billy Bob Thornton and one of the TV Shows executive producers, Mark Wahlberg.
Written and directed by series creator Doug Ellin, Entourage opens on June 5.
Since breaking through with his third solo album, Tha Carter, in 2004, former Hot Boy Lil Wayne has climbed to the highest echelons of the rap game, and turned Young Money into a hip-hop empire. After a decade of domination, the New Orleans heavyweight is preparing to close the book on the current chapter of his career (and retire from music entirely, if he’s to be believed) with the release of Tha Carter V.
Weezy’s 11th LP in total and the follow-up to 2013’s I Am Not a Human Being II, the highly-anticipated LP comes on the heels of buzzworthy singles “Krazy,” “Believe Me” and “Grindin.” Fellow YMCMB megastar Drake makes a guest appearance on the project, which features beats by the likes of Boi-1da, Infamous and Vinyl.
Tha Carter V will be released in two parts, and is expected to drop on Feb 24.
Kanye West is very mysterious about the way he goes about releasing albums. He recently played Seth Rogan the instrumentals to his entire album and freestyled the whole album while in a limo. He also reportedly played the album at a Paris club one night during Parisian fashion week. Rihanna spilled the beans on a 2015 tour Kanye might be doing, which would suggest an album to support. The album has not been officially announced yet, but all signs points to the fact it is coming in 2015. Perhaps we might even get some Kanye / Jay new material.
Vince Staples: Odd Future affiliate Vince Staples is finally getting his chance to shine. He has been putting in his due releasing mixtapes over the past several years, but once his debut EP on Def Jam Recordings, Hell Can Wait, was released in November, people really started to pay attention to this talented, young MC.
Staples appears to be hitting his stride just in time to release his debut artist album in the first half of 2015. Stay tuned for what the “Blue Suede” rapper has coming your way.
Rocky has been laying low for a minute now. His debut album Long.Live.A$AP dropped back in January, 2013 and he has kind of been missing in action since. Sure, his sophomore album gave enough more than enough juice to last a year but we’re coming up on 24 months without anything new from Flacko. Luckily, he dropped the first single/song/promo for his follow up entitled “Multiply”. The track gives us a perfect sneak peek as to what his upcoming album will sound like. He brings that classic rapid fire delivery mixed with swaggy lines about upper echelon living. Expect to hear a some edgier beats from Rocky on this one though as he has been producing a lot of his own stuff lately.
Kendrick Lamar’s next album might be one of the genre’s most anticipated releases, and, thanks to Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg, we now know a little bit more about what we can expect from King Kendrick.
“Kendrick Lamar, somehow, has developed even more, gone to another level,” Rosenberg, who listened to four as-yet-unheard songs off of the album, says in a new video from his “THE REALNESS” series. “He’s talking about black righteousness. He’s talking about Africa. There’s social commentary. There’s all kinds of deep thoughts.”
The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music poll, based on the votes of national Australian radio station Triple J listeners, in order to determine their favourite song of the year. Voting is conducted by the internet and begins roughly two weeks prior to the new year for the previous year’s songs. The 100 most popular songs are then counted down on Australia Day.
