Stereosonic 2014
The ten artists we're frothing over.
Top 10
July 30, 2014

Stereosonic have just dropped their enormous 2014 lineup, which will grace Australian major cities across November and December. Sticking with the two-day format they debuted back in 2013, this is essential for fans of dance and electronic music alike. We’ve picked out the Top 10 artists that we won’t be missing at Stereosonic. Check it:

Alison Wonderland

It’s been a tremendous year for Alison Wonderland – you only need to look at our flicks from her warehouse gigs to see that Australia can’t get enough of this girl. Having sold out regional and capital city tours as well as dropping a well-received EP in the past few months, things will only get larger at Stereosonic – she’ll dance between house, hip-hop, trap and Jersey club with ease. Remixes from GANZ & DJ Hoodboi show that her international presence is rising steadily.

Carl Cox

A true legend of the dance world, Carl Cox is a man who needs no introduction. His parties at Space Ibiza have become legendary, spanning over a decade and resulting in some of the island’s most memorable nights filled with house and techno done proper. He brings this craftsmanship and experience to Stereosonic in 2014, and we’re sure that many older heads are cheering about his inclusion on the lineup.

Headhunterz

Coming from the hardstyle Mecca of the electronic world, the inclusion of Dutch producer Headhunterz has raised a few eyebrows on the lineup – we’re more used to seeing him on the likes of Defqon.1, but his addition to Stereosonic is very welcome in our books. With enough pulsating bass and hands-in-the-air leads to power arenas across the globe, expect plenty of Nike Air Max to be shredding the floor when he takes the stage.

Peking Duk

Earlier this year, Peking Duk went double platinum with their crossover banger ‘High’ – a perfect summer anthem that will unite Stereosonic fans with ease. They recently packed out a tent at Splendour In The Grass in the early afternoon, drawing a crowd of ravenous, tie-dyed punters. Plus, they dropped two Drake remixes, which is always a winner. If Peking Duk can pull this sort of crowd at Splendour, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with come November at Stereosonic.

Diplo

This man has been a frequent visitor to Australian shores, and he’s left us sweat-drenched and smiling every single time. Whether it’s a solo performance or a Caribbean-tinged affair with Major Lazer, Diplo has established himself as a veteran of the live arena and a seasoned party-starter to boot. As the head of Mad Decent, he’s been responsible for many of dance music’s breakout stars, so expect the freshest sounds when he takes the deck.

Disclosure (DJ Set)

Disclosure may be the pin-up boys for the current house revival, but they’ve sampled J Dilla, remixed Pharrell and collaborated with Jessie Ware. They’ve shown a real appreciation for other genres, particularly hip-hop and R&B – which is why we’re super interested in a DJ set from the Brit duo. Expect plenty of bangers and dancefloor action – whether it’s their quality remixes or their own original material.

Nina Kraviz

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=605bwlAz_iQ

One of the dance music’s most magnetic figures, Nina Kraviz has become known for her polarising opinions and impeccable skills behind the decks. A true talent of the underground, the Russian producer is just one producer adding plenty of depth and dimension to the lineup. While Calvin Harris and co. might steal the spotlight, rest assured that the likes of Hot Since 82 and Kraviz herself will be thriving at Stereosonic.

RL Grime

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6DKmv3IbEo

Having already witnessed RL Grime perform at Stereosonic 2013, we can already confirm that the producer will be one of the weekend’s highlights. His crushing remix of Kanye West’s ‘Mercy’ is still a club staple – devastating drops and hardstyle interludes make this a festival favourite, while his take on Chief Keef’s drill anthem ‘Love Sosa’ is equally as impressive. If you want to get amped enough to headbutt a wall, head on over to this set.

What So Not

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB6ac_hRBik

What So Not have been dominating locally and abroad in 2014 – their name has graced the colossal Electric Daisy Carnival, as well as tours across America, Canada and shows with the legendary Pusha T. Consider Stereosonic their welcome home – Emoh Instead & Flume have certainly earned their stripes over the past few months, and we’re excited to see how that translates to their live show.

DJ Snake

Only to see how fucked up people get when ‘Turn Down For What’?’ drops.
