The most essential service of all…

Buyers are flocking to bottle shops to stock up on grog in fears that bottle shops will be included in the list of non-essential services closing by Tuesday.

I mean, when Premiers Gladys Berejiklian and Daniel Andrews said that supermarkets, petrol stations, pharmacies and home delivery services would stay open, they didn’t exactly specify what the go was with bottle shops.

But don’t fear, as it’s understood that bottle shops are considered “essential services” and won’t be closing. Yet, shoppers are still going crazy in the lead up to the lockdown. One man even said his local had done three weeks worth of trading in two hours on Sunday. Christ.

First toilet paper, then pasta, rice, mince and pretty much every other item on supermarket shelves. Guess we shouldn’t be surprised that now it’s alcohol that’s on everyones radar…
