Playboy has made its most progressive move yet in its new November/December issue.

It’s the first issue since the recent death of founder Hugh Hefner, and is also the first issue to feature a transgender Playmate. Ines Rau, now in her mid-20s, began dancing for EDM heavy-hitters like Dave Guetta at 18 years of age. She has since featured in magazines like Vogue, W Magazine and Playboy previously in its 2014 Evolution issue, and now she’s graduated to becoming a Playmate in this year’s November/December issue.

“When I was doing this shoot, I was thinking of all those hard days in my childhood. And now everything happening gives me so much joy and happiness. I thought, ‘Am I really going to be a Playmate—me?’ It’s the most beautiful compliment I’ve ever received. It’s like getting a giant bouquet of roses,” she said.

While, Rau is the first transgender Playmate, she isn’t the first transgender model to pose for the magazine, with James Bond star Caroline ‘Tula’ Cossey appearing in Playboy way back in 1981 and 1991. After Hefner’s recent death, Cossey thanked Hefner for providing a “platform that helped [her] campaign for trans rights and visibility.”
