Directed by Aneesh Chaganty, the film stars John Cho as a panicked father looking for his missing daughter after her sudden disappearance. The film breaks conventional storytelling by displaying itself exclusively across computer screens.
In the trailer, we follow an increasingly worried Cho scrolling through Facebook pages, JPEGs and camera footage. We watch him become frantic as the idealistic image of his daughter comes crumbling down. The realistic aesthetic creates an incredibly taut and enthralling atmosphere with many comparing the film to 1999’s Blair Witch Project.
The unique film garnered a lot of buzz earlier at this year’s Sundance Film Festival leading to Sony Pictures acquiring the international distribution rights for $5 million dollars.
