Buy Bust Is Finally Coming To Aussie Screens!
The Filipino action phenomenon is here at last!

October 24, 2018

After forays into the likes of Japanese fashion influencers, import car exhibitions, the intriguing subculture of Sexpo and LA mural legends, we at Mad Love have finally made our way into the wonderful world of cinema.

In collaboration with the great and innovative people over at Half Symbolic Films, Mad Love is proud to be a part of a few select screenings of the Filipino action smash hit BuyBust.

The non-stop, breathlessly heart pounding, action extravaganza squarely takes aim at fans of films like The Raid and John Wick. It instantly cements its place among the pantheon of martial-arts fueled, hyper-violent action films while interweaving an insightful critique on the Philippines current controversial War on Drugs:

“After surviving the slaughter of her entire squad in a drug raid compromised by dirty cops, anti-narcotics special operative Nina Manigan (Anne Curtis), is eager to go head- to-head with the drug cartels that hold a bloody grip on Manila. But when her new mission in the city’s most dangerous slum goes south, the angry civilians turn on her squad. Trapped between a brutal drug gang and hordes of bloodthirsty citizens, their only option is to fight their way out, turning one claustrophobic street at a time into a symphony of apocalyptic violence”.

Directed by acclaimed auteur Erik Matti, BuyBust (in its release so far) has been taking the world by storm, garnering critical praise after screenings at the New York Asian Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, Bucheon International Film Festival, along with several international openings. With incredible passion and enthusiasm the good folks over at Half Symbolic Films are finally bringing the larger than life action spectacle to Sydney audiences with two very special screenings playing at Events Cinema, George Street and Parramatta locations:

“BuyBust is a film that’s made for the big screen. Director Erik Matti came up with the idea for the story in 2013 and pre-production started as early as 2016. And it may well be the craziest film to come out of Asia this year!” (Ann Margarett Cortez, Half Symbolic Films)
