The Beach Bum is looking like it’s gonna be a big one for Matthew McConaughey.

Smoking weed with Snoop Dogg, playing golf with Jonah Hill, and feeding cocaine to a parrot, it seems that the redband trailer Matthew McConaughey’s new film The Beach Bum has ticked a lot of boxes in the stoner genre. And we must say, watching McConaughey stagger around as the fuck-up prone wirter ‘Moondog’ certainly put a smile on our dials.

Written and directed by Harmony Korine, AKA the man who gave us 2012’s hit Spring Breakers, the film seems to follow Moondog on a neverending orgy of drugs, celebrity hangs, and writing, before a run in with the law provides a potential speed bump (no pun intended). There’s not much more we can garner plot-wise from the trailer, though going off Korine’s previous form, it’s safe to say there will be a depth to characters and story underneath the blue skies, parties and boozing.

Isla Fisher, Martin Lawrence, Zac Efron, and Jimmy Buffet also feature in the trailer which is a pretty good indicator of how fun the film is going to be. The Beach Bum will be hitting cinemas in the US in March, with no official Australian release date as of yet. Stay tuned.
