Get familiar with the Sydney trio.

In the space of a few short months, Sydney buzz band The Flowers have caught the attention of triple j and fBI Radio, played their first show to a packed house, and amassed thousands of streams – pretty crazy, considering they’ve only released two tunes. Today they gift their swelling fanbase a visual accompaniment to their dreamy sophomore single ‘Origami’, and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for.

The track sees vocalist Agnes O’Dwyers melodies float over jangly guitars and synths as she unravels her understanding of individuality. “After years of feeling like I was made differently, made wrong, I decided to write this song. It was an attempt to try and make sense of my conflicting needs to both be wanted and alone at the same time. The song explores the lengths we go to in order to seek the answers to ‘fix’ the anxiety instead of actually, truly listening to it.” Agnes says.

The video, which was directed by Liam Clark, encapsulates suburban Australiana nicely, giving the clip a warm and at times isolating feeling. “We wanted to ensnare the alienation of a suburban landscape but also celebrate its nostalgic tendencies. We decided to shoot a roll of super 8 on my Minolta to capture this sentiment,” Liam says.
