It’s no secret that Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth is an absolute beast, getting into a godly condition to portray Marvel superhero Thor. But if you thought that the hammer-wielding god was the extent of Chris’ physical conditioning, get ready, as the Aussie star is planning on getting even bigger to portray wrestling legend Hulk Hogan in the upcoming Netflix biopic.
“This movie is going to be a really fun project,” Hemsworth explained to Total Film. “As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.”
He’s not kidding, as while he weighed around 99 kg while portraying Thor, Hogan weighed approximately 137 kg at his prime. He would also brag about his “24-inch pythons”. We’re not exactly sure what body part he’s referring to but we totally believe it. Thus, Hemsworth is gonna have to commit hard if he wants to get anywhere close to Hogan’s iconic body. That, along with the classic moustache, colourful bandana, accent and attitude, will make for an all-time portrayal.
The film is reportedly focusing on Hogan’s early years as a wrestler, starting with his time in the Florida wrestling circuit in the 1970s and continuing into the 1980s when he was the face of the World Wrestling Federation.
Speaking on getting into character, Hemsworth is more than keen, stating “I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing.” No doubt he’ll be immersing himself about Hogan’s various rivalries in the business, including his feud with Andre, The Giant.
The script for the biopic is being written by Scott Silver and John Pollono, while Joker director Todd Philips is on directorial duties. Hogan himself will serve as an executive producer and consultant.
