No doubt he’ll go all the way for the role…

In perhaps one of the most promising castings of the year, Dallas Buyers Club star Jared Leto has confirmed he’ll be playing Andy Warhol in a new film. Taking to Instagram to share the news, you can tell Leto is bubbling with excitement at the opportunity, writing “Yes it’s true I will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film”, also adding that he was “so grateful and excited about the opportunity”. He ended the post by wishing the late artist a “happy belated birthday” and writing “we miss you and your genius”.

Leto hasn’t provided any additional details about the project, but it’s suspected that Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter will be writing the screenplay, which sounds super perfect for the project.

Warhol was previously played by art/ music icon David Bowie in the Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic in 1996, who totally captured the subtle sensibilities of the art icon. Just going off how much Leto commits to his roles, I can so see him getting totally lost in the psyche of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Check a clip of Bowie playing him in 1996 and try to imagine Leto’s own take on the famous creative.
