Been in the making for some time…

After years of calling out, increasing shots and just plenty of back and forth, Sonny Bill Williams has properly confirmed he’s down to fight Sharks legend Paul Gallen. The update comes after Sonny Bill was directly called out by the man himself on Channel 9’s 100% Footy, with Gallen saying to Williams “I want to hear it from you… It’s been spoken about year after year now, am I going to fight Sonny Bill? And I’ve said yes year after year. I want to hear it from you. Are you going to fight me? Is it going to happen one day? You’re the only one it needs to come from now, it’s a yes or a no.”

Not at all mincing words, Williams replied “100 percent”, to which Gallen immediately replied “Yeah baby” amidst laughs from the rest of the panel.

Gallen wasted no time in getting a date out of Williams, pressing the Roosters star on when it would take place, asking “Before I’m 40? I look 40… I’m getting close to it but I still have enough to get the job done. Let’s make it happen then”.

Again, Williams didn’t at all shy away from the question, stating “I’m definitely not scared to get in the ring with you, I’m definitely not running. I’m actually excited to get in the ring with you, it’s going to happen… And hopefully within the next six months.” Williams also decided to have a little shot at Gallen about his upcoming bout with New Zealand UFC star Mark Hunt, adding “If it all happens towards the end of the year, I think I’ve already agreed with Barry (Hall) to hopefully get in the ring with him because my understanding was that you’re fighting the legend (Mark Hunt). So I think for you, instead of worrying about me you better be worried about that brother”, to which Gallen responded “I am”.
