There’s definitely a lot of expectations riding on the remaster for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 And 2. From having to be faithful to the originals while standing on its own (all the while blasting those classic Pro Skater tunes), the developers have got quite the task ahead of them. Almost everyone has something they want to get out of this game, but if the new warehouse demo is anything to go off, it’s safe to say we might have a home run here.
The demo is a two minute skate sash with Hawk himself, showcasing classic tricks such as the 900 and other iconic moves. The gameplay features unique sound effects for hitting gaps and activating signature moves, calling it back to the original but adhering to the sensitivities of gamers in 2020. There’s also a special rewind feature that allows you to get on your board faster after you stack it. And thankfully, we do get a glimpse at some of the new tricks and trick mapping available to players who want to experiment.
Although this is only one level, it definitely captures the magic of the originals while changing up the gameplay experience, which is a balance that we’re all banking on. It’s properly sick. Check the full demo below.
