After having its world premiere last year at the Tribeca Film Festival, the highly anticipated science-fiction thriller Synchronic starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan is set to finally be released in theatres. Directed by Indie filmmakers Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, the film is a follow up to their 2017 science-fiction classic The Endless, and sees the two Indie stars truly pushing their limits as filmmakers.
An official synopsis for the film reads “When New Orleans paramedics and longtime best friends Steve (Mackie) and Dennis (Dornan) are called to a series of bizarre, gruesome accidents, they chalk it up to the mysterious new party drug found at the scene. But after Dennis’s oldest daughter suddenly disappears, Steve stumbles upon a terrifying truth about the supposed psychedelic that will challenge everything he knows about reality—and the flow of time itself.”
Seems like a pretty solid premise, and the trailer for the flick seems every bit as intense and mind-boggling as you’d want. Striking what appears to be a pretty perfect balance between horror, science fiction and psychological thriller, the film looks like it’s gonna properly shake us to the core, which we’re not at all mad at. It also features some super trippy visuals and set-pieces, adding a grounded realism to the psychedelic-nature of the story.
The trailer is pretty sick, and no doubt the film will make for a damn memorable experience in theatres. Check it out below.
