A true legend…

The cricketing world has suffered a truly devastating loss, following the sudden death of Aussie legend Dean Jones. The 59 year old was in Mumbai, India where he was living while commentating on the IPL for Star Sports, when he suddenly fell victim to a heart attack. It’s understood that former cricketer Brett Lee was on the scene and performed CPR, but was unsuccessful in saving Jones’ life.

Jones was perhaps most famous for the double century he made in Madras in the Tied Test in 1986, pushing through insanely hot conditions and a physical illness to stay out on the pitch.

Tributes have already started flowing in for the all-time great, with former Aus Captain Allan Border stating “He revolutionised the game and I loved him,” while Justin Langer called him “A true legend of Australian sport.” Cricket Australia Chairman Earl Eddings also said “Dean Jones was a hero to a generation of cricketers and will forever be remembered as a legend of this great game,” among countless more tributes.

Jones is survived by his wife Jane and two daughters, Phoebe and Isabella.

Rest In Peace Dean, the way you revolutionised the game on and off the pitch will forever be remembered, and we’ll always remember you. Check out some of his career highlights below.
