Toronto OG Drake has been mostly quiet this year, locking himself in the studio to put the finishing touches on his upcoming album Certified Lover Boy. We were initially led to believe the album was set to drop by the end of 2020, but as these things go, it looks like we’re gonna have to wait a little while longer. However, in true Drizzy (and Jay-Z) fashion, we’ve gotten a dope reveal for the new album, and it’s a gorgeous trip down memory lane.
Celebrating his 34th trip around the sun, Drake donned his creative hat to announce the new album’s January 2021 arrival. The announcement was made through a smooth AF vid that sees Drizzy recreate the album artworks for his many albums and projects, much like Hov did when was releasing Blueprint 3. From Take Care to Nothing Was The Same to his most recent Dark Lane Demo Tapes. The vid then finishes with the logo for Certified Lover Boy on the top of a building, as it cuts to a January 2021 release date.
It’s a pretty dope concept, and now doubt Hov was just a bit chuffed with the tribute. Check out Drake’s reveal and Hov’s from back in the day to see whether you think Drizzy did it justice.
