The remix we’ve been waiting for…

In some news that’ll make Office fans ecstatic, Hollywood funny man John Krasinski has returned to his sitcom roots for SNL, turning the iconic show’s theme song on its head. The remix came during the Quiet Place star’s opening monologue, with a voiceover promising that he’d be singing “the long-lost lyrics to The Office‘s theme song, which he wrote himself.”

The song sees Krasinski start the tune by repeatedly singing Scranton over that signature piano line, before going into various lyrical summaries of each of the characters of the show. Naturally, Jim emerges as the hero of the tune, with Dwight (played by Rainn Wilson) ending up as the bad guy, which we’re totally not mad at. The remix also saw Krasinski show off his mad director chops, utilising footage he himself shot of Scranton, Pennsylvania to accompany the song, along with clips of each character of the cast.

The debut episode of the new season also saw performances from musical guest Machine Gun Kelly, performing his crowd-favourite ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’ along with a rendition of ‘Lonely’. Of course, both saw renditions saw him fitted with a guitar as he played the part of punk-rocker ever so convincingly. It’s honestly hard to remember that old mate had a beef with Eminem at one point, the new tunes seemingly distancing himself from his rapper persona.

Pretty sick for a first episode. For now, watch Krasinski’s remix of The Office theme song below.

Pretty sick,
