As if their jaw-dropping nature docs weren’t enough, the folks at Discovery Inc. are making their foray into fashion with a new Vans collaboration. Making kicks for a cause, the partnership works to benefit Project CAT, a joint effort to double the world’s wild tiger population, with an array of feline-inspired footwear to boot.
Taking all the majesty of the animal that inspired it, the collection gives Vans’ staples a king-of-the-jungle twist. The classic Sk8-Hi shoe now includes graphics prints of photoreal tigers, and sneaker freakers can get the word out with custom ‘Protect Tigers’ laces. Stripes, equally synonymous with Vans and tigers alike, feature on the brands’ iconic black stitching. A new slip-on kids range will also be released for those mini environmentalists, complete with fuzzy ears and tiger embroidery.
Aside from sporting limited edition shoes, Vans and Project CAT are enabling the conservation of tiger habitats to save the jungles’ most ethereal animal from extinction. Speaking of the project, Discovery Inc. said it was “thrilled” for its fans.
“Discovery’s passionate fans have also always acted as partners in this cause, [this is] a stylish way to support Project CAT through this line of Vans footwear and apparel.”
Keep an eye out for the feline frenzy online and at select stores this July.
