Hot off touring the U.S. and announcing a bunch of Aussie festival appearances, it seems Sydney’s Hayden James is intent on finishing 2021 strong…

His latest move comes in the form of his new single ‘Waiting For Nothing’ ft. Swedish-born singer-songwriter Yaeger. The tune follows on from numerous collabs from the producer this year, harkening back to recent releases like ‘Rather Be With You’ ft. Crooked Colours and ‘Foolproof’ ft. Gorgon City and Natt Dunn but with a more euphoric, dance-ready twist.

Consequently, the new offering sees the homegrown muso double down on his house music roots, uplifting synths and drums pulsating beneath Yaeger’s soulful vocals. Driving kicks spur the track forward with a self-assured delivery, enhancing the euphoria established in the opening verse with vivid precision as Yaeger sings about relational conflict and the questions one asks themselves while in such a predicament.

A highlight is without a doubt that drop however, the harmonies in the chord progression amplifying the emotion of the lyrics along with the urgency of the overall track, adding an added sense of tension that keeps you on your toes throughout the four-minute runtime.

Speaking on the importance of the new single, the ‘Numb’ producer explains “This is such a special song for me – it’s got a huge energy and Yaeger brings incredible emotion in her performance. It’s about that feeling of not knowing if you’re in the right relationship, if you’re wasting your time with the wrong person, if you’re stuck in a loop.

“I think a lot of people will connect with this.”

A bit of bass-heavy goodness perfect to get a headstart on the weekend with. Be sure to buy/stream Hayden James’ new single ‘Waiting For Nothing’ ft. Yaeger here.
