Well, we’ve reached the end of another week, and with it we’ve got another five tracks just begging to be listened to. Last week we went the extra mile to make sure we got a bit of every genre in our lineup, and this week is no exception. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
Sydney/Eora via Sudan rapper Goldfang bursts out the gates with plenty of flare and charisma in ‘Light It,’ the hip hop/reggae bombshell showcasing his affinity for groove and waviness.
The track sees him follow up the bravado of recent collaborations ‘Where Yuh From’ with Big Skeez and F-POS’ ‘Classic’ except with an added sense of steeze as he glides atop Caribbean-flavoured synths and guitars. Visually he hits just as hard, the high octane clip featuring appearances from various Inner west landmarks along with members of Goldfang’s crew; his bars about being authentic and living your culture magnifying with each and every second.
Definitely a solid track from one of the most exciting hip hop artists doing it in the inner west, it’ll definitely light up your Friday morning like nothing else.

Death By Denim continue to serve up sun-drenched goodness in their latest offering ‘Feels Like Fiction,’ the Mooro five piece doubling down on the summery sonic palette that’s won them so much praise so early on.
The track features the falsetto of lead singer Nik as the main centre point of the piece, numerous guitars and drums crafted around him; supporting and enhancing his tenor tone without at all taking away from it. There’s also plenty of textural variety throughout the four minute runtime, warped guitars going into overdrive at various points (2:30 is bloody ridiculous) along with plenty of space between layers as the Moroo psychonauts show their musical progression from early tunes ‘Wiggy’ and ‘Cigarettes and Honey’ to the more intricate, acid-trip friendly sound they’ve now taken up real estate in.
A groove that’ll help soundtrack your next surf (and any other type of) sesh. Start your Friday on a high with ‘Feels Like Fiction.’

Yazmindi crafts an ode to home and belonging in her latest bop ‘Avocado Latte,’ the singer-songwriter doubling down on the beauty of far-north Queensland and her desire to return to her safe place.
Sonically the track oozes folk-goodness, steady acoustic strums and soulful vocals taking it nice and steady; allowing the intricate lyrics to shine in all of their honesty. The hook is without a doubt the emotional centre-piece of the track, Yazmindi’s utterance “I wish I could wake up in far-north Queensland’ really communicating her sense of connection to her roots.
She also manages to fit in a cheeky roast of Melbourne, concluding the hook with “where no-one gives a shit if I’m a Vegan,” which helps add a sense of levity to the overall offering; an offering that well and truly reminds you to always remember where you’re from.

Kiwi export Alisa Xayalith proves she’s just as strong a solo artist as she is as a part of The Naked And Famous, the LA-based singer-songwriter crafting a lush and dreamy escape in her debut single ‘High Fidelity.’
Sonically the track makes good use of indie-guitars and melodies, the Kiwi songstress gliding atop them with an airy chest voice. Her tone really shines in this number, equal parts resolute and laid back as she sings about love and the rush of falling back into it. It’s a concoction of pure proportions, one that’s maximised on the title lyric as she eases into her head voice with total ease.
A high-fidelity track that’ll get you in your feels and add a sense of elation into your day, we’re prescribing it for a bit of sonic self-care.

Bondi larrikins Gully Days dial up the ridiculousness in ‘Wouldn’t Wanna Be You,’ the rising musos utilising one of their most hard-hitting sound palettes for a sonic roast of badass proportions.
The guitars and vocals reek of old-school rock bands like Powderfinger and ACDC, the four piece taking us back in time to when the bass was pumped up to the max and no fucks were given. Lead singer Luke is especially gritty in this cut, his tenor tone dripping with attitude as he takes aim at slaves to materialism; most notable on the hook and title of the song ‘Wouldn’t Wanna Be You.’
Wanna hear some of the more grittier, badass rock the Aussie scene is brewing with? Gully Days more than have you sorted with ‘Wouldn’t Wanna Be You.’
