Almost fifty years since the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released in 1974, we’re finally getting the sequel we’ve been waiting for…

And much to our collective relief, it seems to be every bit as gory and downright insane as the original film. The reboot, which lands on Netflix on February 18th, stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham and a bunch of other Hollywood rising stars, along with Olwen Fouéré, who’ll be taking on the role of OG TCM protagonist Sally Hardesty.

In a classic 2022 twist, the film centres around social media culture, following a bunch of young influencers as they move to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to bring their business dreams to life. But sadly, their aspirations get cut short when they stumble into the home of the slasher himself Leatherface, whose 1974 murder-spree continues to haunt the town to this day. And of course, they reawaken the psychopath within, with all breaking quickly breaking loose as he goes on another iconic rampage. That is until the survivor of his first massacre Sally Hardesty shows her face however, who’s hell-bent on getting revenge on old mate.

The trailer features plenty of gore and jump-scares, along with some quality jabs at social media culture that culminates at 2:00 as a bunch of phone wielders hilariously threaten Leatherface “Try anything and you’re cancelled bro” while live streaming. Of course, Leatherface doesn’t seem to care much for their tough words, and you can probably guess what happens next.

Definitely looks like a worthy sequel to the slasher classic. Check out the full trailer below, and if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic like us, check out the trailer for the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 1974 below.
