In another instance of McDonald’s Netherlands being the most out-there branch of the fast food giant in the world, the European dark horses have announced their latest venture: Macca’s Jewellery.
Titled ‘Little & Glamour’, the latest advancement of the burger and fries titan sees them upcycle customer waste and turn it into a range of 14-karat jewellery.
The seven-piece collection includes the likes of French fry container earrings, Big Mac box ring to crystallised straws (massive flex). To top it off, the the food packaging comes pre-crushed, helping to keep the rubbish-centric spirit of the raw materials alive and well in the pieces.
It might seem like a bit of a weird venture from the golden arches but it turns out its all part of Maccas’ pledge (at least in the Netherlands) to offer eco-conscious packaging. They’re even going so far as offering people the chance to cop a piece from the collection from now until September 12th, given they actually recycle/dispose of their rubbish correctly (not that being a decent person is motivation enough).
It’s no doubt an interesting way to get there, but definitely not their whackiest. See the video below for evidence, and the next time you’re about to litter that Macca’s cup, don’t!
