Cult swimwear brand Ark Swimwear is on the lookout for Australia’s next modelling sensation.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural competition, Australia’s very own Ark Swimwear will be holding its model competition for a second year in a row in Bondi this Sunday. Ark is looking for diverse talent of all ages, and teaming up with Australian modelling agencies Chic and Scoop Management, they’re searching for Australia’s next big name in modelling.
Launched by Renée Kirby in 2016, Ark has built a global reputation for luxurious and timeless swimwear, having been seen on the likes of Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowski and Lea Michele, as well as Victoria’s Secret models Taylor Hill, Izabel Goulart and Nina Agdal, to name a few.
The competition represents a huge foot in the door for one aspiring model, with last year’s winner Masha Basman going on to model for the likes of Stax, Assembly The Label, Style Runner, Aly Fashion, Specsavers and JD Sports.
“Entering a competition like this introduces you to the experts in the field and an opens so many doors. I never dreamed I would be working so much in my first year of modelling,” said Basman.
An open casting call is taking place this Sunday at North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, where ten semi-finalists will be announced at 1 pm, along with a further ten at 4 pm, with the winner announced the following week. Each entrant will have an opportunity to walk the runway and have their photo taken, as well as meet the judges. There will also be a ‘Next Gen’ category for under 16s.
The winner will score a modelling test shoot with Chic or Scoop Managements (valued at $1000), $1000 worth of Ark Swimwear and the opportunity to feature in the next Ark campaign.
To top it off, the day will also feature an on-stage Q&A with Ark Swimwear and international models, Natalie Roser and Shannon Lawson, as well as an interview with Masha Basman about the launch of her career after taking out last year’s competition.
The competition will kick off at 10 am this Sunday the 15th of January at North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club. Pre-registration is essential and now open over at the model registration portal here.
