I’ve been waiting far too long for this film…
We’re gonna go out on a limb here and say Denis Villeneauve’s ‘Dune: Part Two’ is by far one of the most highly-anticipated films of next year. The Arrival director’s recreation of author Frank Herbert’s age-old tale was an instant hit, and helped breathe fresh life into Hollywood and the sci-fi genre alike. Now, however, the seemingly endless wait for its sequel, Dune: Part Two, is starting to whittle down, partly due to the fact that the latest trailer for the film that was released this morning.
Clocking in at nearly three minutes long, the new look at the sci-fi epic puts the spotlight on the world of Arakis and leading man Timothee Chalamet, along with his many A-List co-stars. Most notably, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christoph Waltz, Charlotte Rampling and more, with all of whom getting a little extra screen time in this flick. We also get an insight into the motivations that fuel each of said main players of the flick, with Rampling’s character in particular revealing her plans for Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and the power he possesses.
Tying the trailer together is a quick montage of the various action sequences and absolutely bonkers visuals courtesy of Aussie cinematographer, Greig Fraser. From monochrome space colloseums to mammoth sand worms, fiery space battles and one super creepy shot of Austin Butler sticking his tongue out, the sheer visual spectacle of the film is a sight to behold.
It’s a reassuring sneak peak into what’s sure to be one of the biggest films in recent memory. Check it out below ahead of the film’s theatrical release on March 1st.
