It’s common knowledge that birthdays are usually a pretty good time, but when the people behind your favourite beers (looking at you XPA, Easy Hazy, and Cerveza) throw a birthday party at their brewery, the odds of having the night of your life go through the roof. To be honest, it’s probably the only time that it’s encouraged to have a couple of beers and get a little rowdy at a 10th bday.
Last night we hit the Goldy for Balter’s big 1-0, and the crew at the Balter Taproom in Currumbin Waters made sure the milestone was celebrated properly. The arvo kicked off early, with food trucks rolling in, live tunes warming up the crowd and a steady flow of fresh beers coming out of the taps.
But the main event — the one everyone was waiting for — was Tins of Glory.
If you’ve never seen it before, imagine curling, beer pong and backyard chaos rolled into one. Teams of two slide tinnies down a long bench aiming for the elusive “pleasure zone” at the end, where glory, bragging rights and prizes await. Sadly we sucked at this, but it was definitely fun to watch the “pros” go at it.
