Last Dinosaurs absolutely smashed it out of the park at Splendour In The Grass, and being Queenslanders, they’re no strangers to success. Having toured the world off the back of their well-received debut album, the band are gearing up for a sophomore effort in Wellness, dropping at the end of August.

We spent a day with the ultra-friendly and talented crew when they headed to Sydney for a headline show at Oxford Art Factory. See the pictures below and make sure you catch them once again when they embark on a headline tour throughout September and October:

We meet up with Last Dinosaurs and the crew in Surry Hills. If you’re in an indie band, it’s mandatory that you take a casual stroll down Crown Street whenever you’re in Sydney City. You will also preferably sit on a milk crate, smoke rollies and order an organic smoothie with almond milk. #INDIE

Here’s another very enjoyable and very indie activity: Going thrift shopping for nostalgic t-shirts with faded graphics that will get you compliments in the smoking section outside Oxford Art Factory. Shouts to Vinnies for selling WWF shirts that make us relive the days of reenacting The Undertaker’s tombestone piledriver in the backyard.

We decide to grab a feed at Don Don on Oxford Street: Cute name, cheap Japanese food, BYO, excellent banter with wait staff. Try the katsu curry and salmon avacado hand roll with a bottle of Passion Pop. Snort wasabi and then go and vomit around the corner before heading to Shady Pines for a cocktail.

We snuck a fucking drone into Don Don for this exclusive aerial shot of the miso soup.

We peruse around the local boutiques, ending up at CREAM where Sean catching up with an old mate who happens to be working. They also happen to sell a shirt with a smurf on it. Remember what we said about nostalgic t-shirts with faded graphics? Head to CREAM now and buy this t-shirt to wear with thick-rimmed glasses and cropped pants.

Time for business: Heading through the very exclusive back entrance of Oxford Art Factory, watch out for the ibis!

Just making sure that all those riffs sound shimmering as ever.

Sound check simply flys by, so we kill some time with a few rum-based beverages down at The Cliff Dive. The Last Dinosaurs ball out hard in the VIP table service section – I see a $50 note and a $10 note in there somewhere. We proceed to make it rain with Myer gift vouchers and bus passes, salute to the fans for making this lavish lifestyle a reality. #SUFFERINGFROMSUCCESS

Is Dan throwing up that hand gesture from that weird advertisement for health insurance or something? We just spent 25 minutes on Youtube trying to find it. If anyone knows which ad we’re talking about, email us the answer and we may or may not send you a free hat.

All the fans in the crowd making their friends jealous with 10 second Snapchat videos.

Living the rockstar life and climbing onstage for a photo from Dan’s perspective on the drum kit. Luckily we didn’t get booed off or get a vodka lemonade thrown at us. Nice view, though.

Last Dinosaurs have the full house pumping. Old mate with his finger up in the front row is asking for one more track even though they haven’t finished yet.

Doing it for the fans: Last Dinosaurs post for the last photo of the night with some punters. Michael throwing up unidentified gang signs. Thanks to the band for letting us hang out all day and reinstating our love for Miso Soup. Make sure you check out their latest record Wellness on August 28 because it bangs hard, and will bang even harder when they hit the road to play it live for you next month.
