Print media has been hurting for a long time and with the coming of 2016 this has never been so evident. With everyone, for obvious reasons, turning their attention to the Web it’s a strange time to be a photographer in skateboarding (hence the reason I’m writing these very words).
We can only hope the younger generations still find value in turning the pages of a magazine, regardless of what happens over these next uncertain years.
It’s not all bad though, with many opportunities to share work that wouldn’t otherwise see the light of day. You never would have seen the image above of Milan Simundza Front Blunting a Melbourne rail. That’s because Dustin Dollin performed a near identical trick (Dustin went to fakie) on it a few years ago (hence a big no-no in skateboarding for this to be released in print).
However now thanks to this sweet sweet space LWA has granted me I can share this image with you and all the hot chix.
Bring on the web. Long live print.
