Now, a gold life-size statue of the Chicago rapper on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. The statue sees Yeezus crucified while wearing a crown of thorns, Yeezy 350 sneakers and nails hammered into his hands. The piece has been titled ‘False Idol’ and has been causing quite a stir on the busy intersection.

Just to add to the confusion, the artist goes by the name of Plastic Jesus, and says that the statue is a piece of commentary about West’s recent public controversies – including a meeting with President Trump – and how the media and world at large have responded to his behaviour.
“He’s a genius at writing and producing but he’s not a God, and that’s where we put him… Until there’s an issue in his life or a hiccup in his career, then we crucify him. We’ve seen it before with people like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. The same people who put him into a God-like place are the same yapping at his heels for a piece of flesh when something happens,” he explained.
No word on how long the Kanye X Jesus Christ hybrid statue will be standing, but it’s set to appear in an exhibition titled Anesthesia: The Art of Oblivion at the end of this month.
