Party & Bullshit

Following a show-stopping performance that saw the floor of the Enmore Theatre collapse less than three songs in last week, Genesis Owusu finally got to finish his Enmore Theatre show last night…

Energy was high last night at Sydney’s Enmore theatre, the long-awaited Genesis Owusu show once again rolling into town for the inaugural Sydney stop. Following last week’s madness that saw the literal floor of the Newtown abode collapse, nerves were a bit on edge for the night’s proceedings. All of which were quickly put to bed however, opening acts 1300 and Bukhu Ganburged quickly lighting up the stage with plenty of energy and flavour. They perfectly set the stage for the main event, Ghanian-born MC Genesis Owusu bringing his undeniable concoction of funk and groove to the Enmore stage once again.

Backed by his Black Dog band and bathed in psychedelic lights and production, the funk-maestro made up for lost time with equal measures of showmanship and star power. Rattling off old and new cuts alike, fans were well satisfied, newcomers and OG fans both well looked after throughout the one hour set. There were plenty of highlights, but personally, hearing the crowd scream ‘Wit Da Team’ and ‘Don’t Need You’ was totally electric. But as always, don’t just take our word for it, get caught up on all the action via the gallery below.
