Party & Bullshit

Listen Out started its second weekend in blazing fashion, taking over Sydney for a perfect Spring day filled with the best in hip-hop, dance and their various offsprings.

We started our Listen Out adventure on the Young Bloods stage, catching Sydney style queen and regular LWA contributor FlexMami dropping heaters from Fetty Wap and Future. After that, fellow local Gradz solidified his place in the day’s highlights by dropping ‘Hard In Da Paint’ by Waka Flocka Flame. PS Is it mandatory for white people to make gunshot noises and half-hearted accompanying hand gestures whenever a rap song gets played at a festival?

Despite his gloomy Sadboy aesthetics, Yung Lean’s live show was surprisingly upbeat and live, with the Oriental vibes of ‘Kyoto’ taking over the Atari Stage with an unmistakable aura. ASAP Ferg put the turn up vibes into overdrive with ‘Dump Dump’, ‘Murda Something’ and other assorted bangers, while Travis Scott backed up his forever-hyped headline show with a wild festival performance including highlight ‘Upper Echelon.’

Jauz took us back to the days of heavy wobble by dropping ‘Cinema’ by Skrillex, which was the best thing of the day since Baauer dropped Bobby Shmurda. We finished the day by sitting on deck chairs at Doughnut Time and watching smooth house vibes of RUFUS and drinking overpriced ciders, and Listen Out provided another day of tunes that was simultaneously intimate and large, and enjoyable for all.
