Seth Sentry is an absolute machine. He’s currently in the middle of a 48-date tour that will see him spit throughout regional and urban Australia – an ambitious task that’s indicative of his admirable work ethic and dominance on the stage.

This amount of live shows is warranted by the brilliance of his sophomore album Strange New Past, which has been unanimously embraced by fans and critics for its honesty and jittering soundscapes – marking yet another advancement in the increasingly diverse Australian rap scene. We spent a day with Seth as he played at Come Together festival in Sydney. Here’s how it went down:

Going to work on a Ferris Wheel. We’re about to link up with Seth Sentry at Luna Park, but first, a million dollar view and some fairy floss.

Seth Sentry-3

We head to The Big Top and find Seth dangling his legs off the stage, engaging in some good chat with Australian hip-hop legends Horrorshow. Salute to Adit & Solo for crafting tunes like this that make me want to ride public transport around the Inner-West for five hours until I get off at the Townie for a schooner. #MAINLINE

Seth Sentry-4

We found some cool things lying around Seth’s room, including a replica of the hover board Marty McFly steals from a little girl in Back to The Future. This was just the icing on a very geeky cake, in the coolest way possible.

Seth Sentry-5

Seth shows off his luggage set, which pretty much only contains three identical snapbacks, the hover board and an espresso machine. All very crucial items for touring life. He says that “All I need is a baggage to another dimension, except then I’d have to share my stuff with myself in that parallel universe. It’s not gross to share your tooth brush with yourself though.” Who knew that we’d be discussing hygiene issues in relation to quantum physics with a rapper? Life is great sometimes.

Seth Sentry-6

Seth getting mic’d up for his interview with Ivan Ooze and throwing in some last-minute questions – Mostly about Star Wars and X-Box games. Both very important issues that require hours, if not days of deliberation.

Seth Sentry-7

DJ Sizzle crashes the party and makes his presence felt with some excellent banter.

Seth Sentry-8

Seth’s pre-show reading material: ‘Time Out Of Joint’ by Phillip K Dick, sitting humbly next to an iPhone and a fruit platter covered in glad wrap.

Seth Sentry-9

Putting final touches on new material only hours before they go on stage – these guys are absolute perfectionists, which is maybe why their live show is one of the country’s best. Seth is holding a bottle of 12 year Yamazaki whiskey, while Sizzle indulges in a healthier option with his $12 kale juice. Gotta get those Vitamin K levels up before showtime.

Seth Sentry-12

Ridin’ Dirty. The cool thing about playing a gig at Luna Park is that there’s plenty of other shit to do, like stare into wonky mirrors and drive dodgem cars. Seth with the eyes of a killer as he bumps his competition to dodgem death.

Seth Sentry-13

Seth with a whole squad of competition winners before the show. #SQUADRON

Seth Sentry-14

After the chaotic turmoil of swerving in dodgem cars, we decide to take a more serene form of transportation back to the venue. Seth and Sizzle sit on an oversized aquatic swan while talking about their most precious hopes, shared dreams and the fragility of life.

Seth Sentry-15

Seth doing a signing where he writes his name on t-shirts, peoples’ stomachs, socks and his own brand of figurines of himself. Immortalising yourself in figurine form must be one of the Top 10 feelings ever.

Seth Sentry-16

The hype is real for a Seth Sentry autograph.

Seth Sentry-17

The singer, rapper, Triple J ‘Like A Version’ expert and Godfather of Australian Dance Music himself, Joyride is in the house. Here, he manages to sell Seth a duffel bag for some reason. Is there anything that this man can’t do? #DUFFELBAGBOYZ

Seth Sentry-19

Showtime. Power glove game on one hunnid.

Seth Sentry-20

DJ Sizzle is glowing. Shoutout to the $12 kale juice.

Seth Sentry-27

Seth goes into Superman mode and makes the leap of faith into the crowd. Old mate on the right hand side got distracted by our camera and missed out on all the mid-air action. Sorry.

Seth Sentry-25

Horns up like you’re at a fucking Slayer show.

Seth Sentry-24

Seth steals a fans phone, takes a photo of the munted fan and threatens to send it to the guy’s mother. Poor bastard. Seth is a cool father figure. Kudos to the punter who managed to sneak their peace sign into our frame.

Seth Sentry-29

For the final few moments, all the acts from Come Together, come together. Ivan Ooze crushes his freestyle hard.

Seth Sentry-23

Thanks to Seth Sentry and his entire crew for showing us a good time and giving us an excuse to go on a ferris wheel. Make sure you check him out on the Strange New Past tour, running from now until September!
