Having successfully dominating club scenes across the country, Stafford Brothers became the first electronic act to sign with Cash Money Records – the hip-hop hotbed owned by veteran Birdman and featuring the likes of Drake, Nicki Minaj, Limp Bizkit (!!!) and Paris Hilton (!!!!!) on their roster. They’ve also since relocated to Los Angeles, so we decided to take our cameras and see how the two are doing – joining them before, during and after a gig at Create Nightclub. Here’s how it went down, images by the God Donslens:
What is your idea of pre-drinks? One Woodstock longneck and a packet of pork rinds while you wait for your mother to give you a lift to the club? That’s what most of my weekends look like, but not for the Stafford Brothers. Stafford Brothers do it big, and have 100 people over at their pad for the warm up before the main event. Looking at this picture, let’s just say that we need to attend more parties hosted by the Stafford Brothers.
The 11th commandment: When in America, drink from red cups. This house even has goddamn Jagermeister and Fireball machines in it, both of which are now empty. Hydration is key, fellas.
Pro skater Greg Lutzka pro skater comes over to skate the ramp at the house, except everyone forgot to tell him that it hasn’t been installed yet. Woops. Oh well, shit happens!
What are those? #RELEVANTMEMES
That girl from the first photo decides that she wants another one sprawled on the pavement. No complaints on our end, here are the phenomenal results. Strong relaxation pose/10.
Who called shotgun? We leave the house and begin heading to the show at Create Nightclub, riding in a convoy of eight Escalades and a party bus. We are lapping it up and really living that celebrity lifestyle. #LAVISH #ROLLDEEP #SWERVE
Although the Stafford Brothers are about to go and make that EDM money onstage, it’s strictly rock anthems on the way there. #HORNSUP
Well, this is a pretty strong crew to be entering a nightclub with.
Timmy Trumpet gets the crowd heated by delivering all that brass goodness on top of the decks. It’s an all Australian invasion in Hollywood, and there’s nothing you can do about it. #CANTSTOPWONTSTOP
Mr. Trumpet giving Will Sparks a run for his money, and getting airborne with little regard for anything or anyone. Apparently, he used to be a high jumper which might explain the impressive hang-time he’s getting here. How many secret occupations does Timmy Trumpet have?
If you don’t like confetti, get the fuck off Planet Earth right now.
Here we go. The Stafford Brothers set commences.
We are Australians. We ride kangaroos to work, we have kangaroos on our national emblem, and sometimes we eat them too. Here, have some inflatable ones and a Simpsons reference.
Here is Mannie Fresh – a true Cash Money OG and a cornerstone producer of Southern rap. Salute to a legend, plus he’s wearing a Star Wars shirt. What a guy! #BIGTYMERS #HOTBOYS
Mannie Fresh and his Star Wars shirt on the mic. You can never, ever have enough pictures of Mannie Fresh.
Stafford Brothers gig or alien invasion? Lasers in full effect.
Pout game on lock. Selfies popping off. This is where dreams come true.
Signing out from the show, sweat-drenched and trumpet still in tact.
We get up bright and early the next day and decide to go skateboarding. This little tumble suggests that the lads might still be intoxicated from last night’s manic gig.
Back on the board, riding into the distance and never looking back.
You can’t beat the classics. You especially can’t beat the Reebok Classics.
One of the kangaroos escapes last night’s show, finds his way back to the house and gets some flight time into the pool with the Stafford Brothers. Shout out to these two bros for showing us how to really live, and also for introducing us to Mannie Fresh! Hopefully they make it home to Australia in the near future so we can experience the turn up once more.
