Having taken out the Academy Award for best directing for Nomadland, Chloé Zhao’s follow up to the much-acclaimed indie couldn’t be more different. Enternals, which follows after the Avengers Endgame chronologically, sees a superhuman group return to Earth in a spaceship to aid a less-advanced human society.
“We have watched and guided. We have helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders,” Salma Hayek’s Ajak says in the trailer. “Throughout the years, we have never interfered — until now.”
The cast is stacked with recognisable faces including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff and Brian Tyree Henry, and finishes with a group of them comically discussing who should be the leader of The Avengers, with Iron Man and Captain America having died:
Eternals is due for release early November this year.
