The contestants will fight to survive in remote locations in July…

SBS has announced the launch of an Australian version of hit survivalist show, Alone, set to hit screens by 2023. The broadcaster, which is currently casting ten adventurers from across the country, will plant its contestants in some of the country’s coldest and most gruelling terrains, and will begin filming by as early as July.

Following the same format as the US original, Alone Australia will provide only 10 items from an approved list to its contestants, who’ll be dispersed across remote locations and required to film their survival off the land. Although the Australian cash prize for the last man standing is yet to be revealed, winners in the US are awarded $500,000.

While the spinoff will be an Australian first, Alone is already one of SBS’s most popular shows, with head of documentaries Joseph Maxwell saying that “it’s literally broken every record there is. We were aware that sitting on our shelf was this thing that was getting extraordinary engagement, so it made total sense to make an Australian version,” Maxwell said.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to survive in some of the country’s most unforgiving terrains, then you can apply to SBS’s casting call here. In the meantime, you can check out some of Alone US’s most gnarly moments below.
