Father of Hollywood titan Ben Stiller and overall comedic genius Jerry Stiller has passed away from natural causes at the age of 92, as confirmed by Ben in a Twitter post.
Best known for his characters Frank Constanza on Seinfeld and Arthur Spooner on The King of Queens, Stiller was a true comedic force. Starring in everything from Hairspray to The Heartbreak Kid and Hot Pursuit, he could really do it all. Not to mention, he and his wife Anne Meara were essentially comedy royalty in the 60s, as they tore up the Las Vegas comedy and television worlds together as comedic duo “Stiller and Meara”.
Stiller’s wife Meara passed away in 2015 due to a stroke, but he is survived by his son Ben and daughter Amy.
Super sad news to wake up to today, our thoughts are with Ben and his family during this tough time. Check out his Twitter post announcing his father’s passing below as well as some of Jerry’s funniest TV moments.
I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad. pic.twitter.com/KyoNsJIBz5
